The Spirit of Resurrection Part 2 - Audio

William Bell, Jr.

The Spirit of Resurrection Part 2, continues the studies of the resurrection. All passages which speak of raising the dead in the last day(s) in the New Testament have Ezekiel 36 and 37 as their background.

These passages make it clear that resurrection belongs to the first century generation during the time Joel's prophecy is being fulfilled which began in the first Pentecost following Jesus' ascension, (Acts 2:16-20)

Several points are highlighted in this audio presentation recorded and edited from a recent radio broadcast which include:

The Resurrection occurs when Israel is gathered from the nations to dwell in their own land.

It occurs when God cleanses Israel through the sprinkling of clean water on them. This is the "new birth" which fulfills the requirement that Israel must be "born again" as related by Christ in John 3:3-8).

God raises Israel when she is cleansed from her filthiness and all her idols." This is Israel's cleansing from sin under the gospel. See Ephesians 2:1-2.

Paul wrote in Romans 11, saying, And so all Israel will be saved as it is written "The Deliverer will come out of Zion, and He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob; For this is My covenant with them when I take away their sins." (v. 26, 27). Since this occurs at the return of the Lord it accords with the time of the resurrection.

Israel's conversion is further alluded to by the fact that he is given a new heart, the legal declaration by God of her new status, in Christ.

It is a clear testimony that Israel's hope could not be fulfilled apart from her Messiah.

Finally, these events foreshadow the last days of the Jewish age when God, as promised through Joel, pours out his Spirit upon all flesh." "I will put my Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgment and do them."

God takes out a people for his name, who will walk in his ways, obey his commands, keep his statutes and judgments and submit to one Lord, the Christ.

The promise of the Paraclete during Christ's absence and ascension to the Father until his return is a major theme of the New Testament.
