Grace

Grace has often been misunderstood. To some it means that nothing is required for our salvation. However, the first time we see the word in the Bible is in Genesis 6:8.

It is true that Noah found favor in God's sight. However the text also states that Noah walked with God. This means Noah faithfully followed the Lord. His was not an idle faith.

God commanded Noah to build an ark of gopher wood. This required an enormous commitment and a lot of work. Only with genuine faith would the task be possible.

By faith Noah being divinely warned of things not seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith." (Hebrews 11:7)

Had Noah refused to build the ark as God commanded him, he no doubt would have fallen from God's favor. The follow lesson helps to explain some important scriptures on the subject.
